About
the Yishuv

The yishuv was established in 1987. The founders decided it should include people from all walks of life – religious, secular, new immigrants, etc. To this day, the community is extremely heterogeneous and tolerant by nature and lives in a strong atmosphere of harmony and cooperation.

The name “Nofim” (views) was chosen because of the spectacular landscape surrounding the locality. To the south-east is a view of the Nahal Kaneh valley, which marks the border of the tribe of Menashe to the north, and the tribe of Ephraim to the south. To the north-west is the view of the coastal lowlands and the Mediterranean Sea. The yishuv is immersed in natural woodland and within it is an archeological site (Hirbet Shahada) of a Jewish community dating back to the Second Temple period.

Nofim is in the midst of a construction and development drive, and is now taking in new families.
