Yakir

The yishuv was founded in Adar 1, 1981, by a nucleus of religious families who wanted to establish a heterogenous Religious-Zionist community where all streams and opinions could feel at home. Volunteering is also an inseparable part of the community. There are more than 200 volunteers in various committees and work teams – in education, culture, security, construction, mutual help, immigration absorption, over-50s, hikes, community involvement, etc.  Many residents also volunteer with organizations such as Magen David Adom (MDA), the local security squad, NGOs, and as mikveh attendants, shul officials, and more.
